Description

Hi,

I've downloaded a tor bundle package at http://www.torproject.org/download.html.en to test it: 0.2.0.34

On installing everything was good.

I finally decided to remove the package because I could not use my IRC client anymore(Colloquy).
So I've executed the /Library/Tor/uninstall_tor_bundle.sh as mentioned here https://www.torproject.org/docs/tor-doc-osx.html.en#uninstall but I had sereval errors:
$ sudo /Library/Tor/uninstall_tor_bundle.sh
ps: No user named 'ax'
. tor process appears to already be stopped
ps: No user named 'ax'
. privoxy process appears to already be stopped
./uninstall_tor_bundle.sh: line 123: /Library/Tor/package_list.txt: No
such file or directory
. Removing created user _tor
delete: Invalid Path
<dscl_cmd> DS Error: -14009 (eDSUnknownNodeName)
. Cleaning up
. Finished

same as in #973 http://bugs.noreply.org/flyspray/index.php?do=details&id=973

I restarted my computer.

But I was always unable to use my IRC client: 'NOTICE * Banned: Tor freenode is hidden-service-only (mejokbp2brhw4omd.onion) - see freenode.net/irc_servers.shtml. (2009/06/24 15.22)
ERROR Closing Link: 127.0.0.1 (Banned)'.

I wonder something related to TOR is always running, despite of the uninstallation.

Please help me, I can't use any IRC client, and really need it.

Thank you.

Antoine

I've also manually removed every listed files on https://www.torproject.org/docs/tor-doc-osx.html.en#uninstall

  • /Library/Tor
  • /Library/Privoxy
  • /usr/bin/tor
  • /usr/bin/tor_resolve
  • /var/log/tor
  • /usr/share/man/man1/tor.1
  • /usr/share/man/man1/tor-resolve.1
  • /usr/share/man/man1/torify.1
  • /Library/Receipts/Privoxy.pkg/
  • /Library/Receipts/privoxyconf.pkg/
  • /Library/Receipts/Tor.pkg/
  • /Library/Receipts/torstartup.pkg/
  • /Library/Receipts/torbutton.pkg/
  • /Library/StartupItems/Tor
  • /Library/StartupItems/Privoxy
  • /Library/Torbutton/

and restarted my computer, but nothing changed, my IRC client behaves like TOR was always here, displaying the message: "NOTICE * Banned: Tor freenode is hidden-service-only (mejokbp2brhw4omd.onion) - see freenode.net/irc_servers.shtml. (2009/06/24 15.22) ERROR Closing Link: 127.0.0.1 (Banned)"

Any clue?

Really I'm stuck and can't use any IRC client anymore...

Sorted out on irc. The problem is (yet again, *$&^&@#) freenode's multi-day
kline with poor error message.

Apparently freenode has improved their kline message for new klines. And
they've reduced the duration from 7 days to 3 days. I'm trying to talk them
into reducing to 1 day. There's no reason not to, imo, but they are still
hesitant. We'll see how it goes.

Anyway, closing this bug report.
