#10683 closed defect (fixed)

Disabling TorBirdy but not restarting is already disabling the extension

Torbirdy is already disabled if I only disable it in the extension tab but omit the restart (which as I am told should be necessary to disable Torbirdy entirely) AND the UI still says Torbirdy is active.

If I understood correctly, what you meant is that the UI should be updated? Because a restart is required for the overlays to be unloaded.

Replying to sukhbir:

Not necessarily, although that would be one way to solve the problem. You could as well easily stop functionality only if the extension got disabled AND Thunderbird is shutdown afterwards (provided it got not enabled again before the shutdown occurred). That might be smarter as Thunderbird claims that it (only) will disable the extension after you restart it. At any rate, what must not happen is that the state shown to the user does not match the state the extension is in.

The UI now reflects the current state and the status bar text changes as it should on uninstall/disable/enable. This will be a part of the next release. Thanks.
