Description

I recently downloaded everything possible from the website and Vidalia opens but when I try to open the Tor Browser I get this window that shows up telling me it "couldn't load XPCOM". I asked Tor support and he told me I needed to shut off my internet security with my antivirus program Webroot Securityanywhere. I don't know what I should shut off for that so he told me to ask the antivirus support but so far they're just completely useless. I was hoping someone on here had that same problem and knows how to solve it.

This would be a good question for Tor's stackexchange (https://tor.stackexchange.com/) or maybe for the tor-talk mailing list.

This trac system is for Tor bug reports though, and "the interface for my antivirus system is crappy and confusing" is not a Tor bug report.

Then you better to uninstall such software.
http://www.wikihow.com/Uninstall-Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus-2012
Instruction should be valid for newer webroot software too.

If you don't want to uninstall then you need to update webroot software or to allow blocked modules in config. You need to ask antivirus support or someone yet about need steps.

Like solution from internet:

Solution: If you have webroot antivirus, go to ---IDENTITY PROTECTION ---Application Protection ---and allow gkmedias.dll in C:\users\..\tor browser\browser

It can be not only gkmedias.dll however.
