Description

TOR browser stops working after trying to access hidden/dark/deep web... have tried to re-install TOR and set only things that may conflict, have tried leaving all settings default.

has only happened since i have use my new (personally built) computer... making me think that it is somehow connected to Win7 64bit pro OS.

the program works fine when browsing clear net then crashes and wont start again only after trying to view hidden wiki and .onion sites etc.

(wondering also if this could possibly be something in the registery blocking TOR/vidalia from working outright)

informaion from crash 'program not working' popup:

is this .dll file included with the TOR browser, is it missing, or conflicting somehow as well?

Does https://lists.torproject.org/pipermail/tor-talk/2013-June/028559.html help? What is the value for those two preferences in your TBB build? Does this happen with all .onion sites or just some? Does this happen every time you try to connect to .onion sites or only sometimes?

TOR wont start after the initial crash... just opens the shutdown/error popup screen from windows:

torbrowser has stopped working
check online for solution or close program

it does this with all .onion/TOR sites on first run, after that it wont actually open the program at all.

ok, after messing around finally figured out how to open TOR/Vidalia in safemode... more messing around i found the settings/controls backside area "config"...
ok so far so good, i can now view hidden services, how the flying "F" did those two get changed?...
is that somehow defaulted even tho it doesnt show them as defaults in the config page?...
is this something that has been happening only with windows 7 pro?

Replying to sbseed:

(since i hadnt changed anything with this build/install or since i put TOR on this new comp)

is that somehow defaulted even tho it doesnt show them as defaults in the config page?...

(maybe for previous version builds)

is this something that has been happening only with windows 7 pro?

(does it happen with only windows 7, or is it more widespread, or is it more isolated)

If you are still using Vidalia then you have a rather old setup. IIRC these preferences are not set to the necessary values there. In new TBB (>= 3.0) they are set to "true" per default. Glad that it works for you now.
