Description (last modified by phobos)

DNS: couldn't open /etc/resolv.conf: No such file or directory
Disabling disk cache: No such file or directory
Disabling local tree: No such file or directory
Established listening socket on port 8123.

I am continually getting the above error with Polipo.
If I ignore it and go into my browser (opera) it just says Could not connect to proxy server. Access denied

I used to use Privoxy and I had no problems..
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate

Polipo whines like this on Windows because its support for that platform
is currently incomplete. In particular, Polipo's DNS resolver doesn't know
how to access name servers, and the disk cache is broken. Windows support
should be better some time after 1.0.5

However, Polipo should still be usable for accessing the Internet. Can you
double check your proxy settings in Opera to make sure that the address
and port of the http proxy server are set correctly? It looks like Polipo
is on port 8123, so the proxy server should be localhost:8123
