HTTPS Everywhere causes Firefox to crash on OS X

I’ve been having problems with Firefox crashing periodically.  After a fair amount of testing, I’ve determined that it is related to HTTPS Everywhere.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

starting with all add-ons disabled, I enable HTTPS Everywhere
I restart Firefox as required
The crash reporter indicates that Firefox has crashed
I choose the ‘Restart Firefox’, which it does.  No additional crashes occur after this point.
