Also, it would be nice if the -latest link were actually a redirect to the
file with the filename in it, and not a symlink. That way, people would
actually know what they're downloading and installing (I have 4 -latest
packages in my download thing, that doesn't help much to tell me
which one actually is the latest)

While I can update the Orbot html page, I do not have access to managing the posted APK files. Using the "latest" trick, has removed the need to update the website every time.

Your proposal means we just need to update some sort of redirect script I guess. What would be the best way to implement a script on the mostly static Torproject.org site?

I'm not sure what you mean, if the QR code links to the "latest" file, shouldn't we just have to change the QR code to link to the latest file, but using https instead of http?
