#13082 new enhancement

Use a better default torrc

Description

There should really be a function added to Tor to use a better default torrc, depending on what you'd like to use it for. Even if it's just a one-time torrc creation/replacement function (with no editing of one that's in place), I think it would be an improvement over what exists now (which assumes client-only).

Example: tor --torrc -r --max=4mbps --burst=6mbps for running a relay that advertises 4mbps speed, with a burst of 6mbps.
Or: tor --torrc -b --obfs3 for creating a bridge of the obfs3 variety.

Seems like the kind of thing that would be pretty fun for somebody to do as a command-line wrapper in a higher level language? The hard part here would be getting the design right.

This ticket is tagged SponsorZ, but it looks like progress stalled two years ago. Is this still a thing that needs funding?

(If yes, could someone please clarify the benefits/impact of the requested change?)

I think this might be fundable as part of a much larger "relay operator usability" thing, but I don't see how it's fundable on its own.
