Description

Dear Globe/Atlas Developers,

When I used Atlas today with JavaScript turned off, it didn't respond, and didn't give me any errors or any feedback (like "turn JavaScript on").

I've since learnt that Atlas/Globe are written in Node.js.

I've also heard that the Tor Browser is moving towards JavaScript being off by default (or, at the very least, one of 3-4 security level options).

Are there options for making Atlas/Globe work without
client-side JavaScript?
Can we teach Atlas/Globe to ask for JavaScript when it's disabled?

There is no such option right now. However, some folks are currently extending Globe and a JavaScript-free version is on the feature list.

The second part of the issue is similar to #15978

I think the first part should be resolved as wontfix (based on phw's comment), and the second part can considered a duplicate.

Severity: Normal

Globe does ask for JavaScript when JavaScript is disabled.
Atlas has a patch in #15978.
Tor Browser now has a "High" security level which turns JavaScript off on HTTPS sites (it didn't have this feature 19 months ago).
