Description

Hello. This morning I've installed on my iMac the last release of TorBundle: 3.6.6

As usual first thing I did, just after installing last release, was to use 'sync' function of the browser to restore bookmark, tabs and so on, but suprise: it did not word.

I clicked, as usual, on Sync in the tool menu; the usual popup opened asking me usual data: username, password and restore key; I fill all fields, but on clicking on the 'continue' button, nothing happends!!!

Same if i click before the 'Syncronisation Option'. In both cases, the only way to get out from the popup, is clikcing on red dot in upper-left corner.

Hope the sync function can be restored asap, couse I'm sure a lot of people use it.

Best Regards.

Joe

Does it help if you open about:config in your Tor Browser and switch security.nocertdb back to false?

Just tried, but nothing changes: clikking on Continue give no action.

Shoud I reset it to TRUE ?

Replying to JoeVR:

Have you closed Tor Browser and restarted it?

Shoud I reset it to TRUE ?

Yes, if closing and restarting did not help either.

No, I did not restart it. After restarting TBB it worked fine!!!

But the question is: what else implies security.nocertdb = Flase about the anonymizatio process? Is it secure keeping that set to FALSE ?

And, will this configuration can be considered a solution? Or should I remember this set modification for next releases ?

In any case thanks a lot for the temporary, if it is temporary, wordaround!!

Well, we set it to true to have certificates stored in memory only. It is set in order to avoid disk leaks. That said, I am curious: what happens if you set it back to true and restart your browser? Does Sync still work?

We have to fix this for the next release I think. Either by switching the preference back or by improving our underlying patch.

Just tried, if I set, now that synchronization is working, security.nocertdb to TRUE and reboot TBB, again: sync stop working both as pure synchronization that doing again the entire synchronization process (I mean starting from username, password key and so on).

So i set again security.nocertdb to FALSE, restarted TBB and sync start again to work correctly.

So seem that in any case security.nocertdb is set to TRUE, sync won't work.

If you need any other test, just ask !!

Have a nice day

Is that still an issue with Tor Browser 4.0? I think #13366 should have fixed this.
