It is reasonable to increase the default width of TBB windows to 1200 or 1400. Most displays nowadays are widescreen, so are most web pages.

You mean, not restricting the max width to 1000 anymore? gacar: Do you have, by chance, some data to back this up and some quick calculations whether this is worse (wrt anonymity groups) than the current solution? :)

According to very simplistic calculations, it'd be slightly worse than the existing case:

Without any resizing, entropy of the screen resolution distribution: 5.61 bits, # of bins: 27471, # of data points: 2,996,391.

With different resizing parameters:
TBB max width, Entropy (bits), # of bins (anon. sets), Screen utilization (TBB area/screen area)
1000px: 2.79 bits, 87 bins, %57.87 (current countermeasure)
1200px: 3.12 bits, 108 bins, %63.96
1400px: 3.23 bits, 133 bins, %67.15

Also to note, the biggest anon. set for the max_w = 1400px case is 1400x900. This means, a lot people with 1400+ horizontal resolution would benefit from this change, without being easily identifiable.

5 Largest anonymity sets for max_w = 1400
1400x900, 710369
1200x600, 698672
1400x700, 397267
1200x800, 351765
1400x1000, 300197

5 Largest anonymity sets for max_w = 1000
1000x600, 902896
1000x900, 711738
1000x700, 443070
1000x800, 381586
1000x1000, 314155

But let me take a few days more to plot the anonymity set distributions with respect to different resizing parameters, as the overall entropy doesn't tell much about the details of the distribution.
