Description

Should we preserve the profile of users between updates to Tor Messenger? Put differently, do we want that users should re-enter their account details each time they upgrade to a new release?

As a user, no I'd rather not have to re-enter all my account settings that I don't know by heart on each upgrade. :)

boklm: to avoid reseting the profile on update, tor browser updater has a patch to exclude it from the update: https://gitweb.torproject.org/tor-browser.git/commit/?h=tor-browser-38.1.0esr-5.0-1&id=a27b340075e3ff2793f29aa3fa5ab60ea8fd13c7

With the Tor Browser updater patches merged (see updater branch on tor-messenger-build.git), the user profiles are preserved after update. This is also true for OS X where the profile is stored in ~/Library/Application\ Support/TorMessenger-Data.
