agregate *BSD in relays by platform (and future bandwidth by platform)

Hi,

the metrics page currently shows the following platforms on the relay by platform graph:

• Linux
• Darvin
• Windows
• FreeBSD
• Other

What do you think about chaning this to

• Linux
• Darvin
• Windows
• *BSD (includes: FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, DragonFlyBSD)
• Other (which would be SunOS + the ones that have an unknown platform)

current numbers for *BSD: FreeBSD: 204 OpenBSD: 60 NetBSD: 8 DragonFlyBSD: 2

(Background for this feature is that I would like to increase platform diversity by adding *BSD boxes and if they are agregated than they might be even noticable in the graphs.)

Agreed that this would be a useful change. I don't recall the exact reason for creating a separate group for FreeBSD rather than BSD.

I'll have to see how difficult that's going to be with the old, old code running there. I fear we'll have to re-process the entire descriptor archive for this change.

It would probably make sense as a catch-all to have higher numbers, however all of these systems are very different from each other. Darwin is what MacOS builds on, but for the rest kernels, base systems and packages vary greatly. Especially the varying kernels would probably justify them being split rather than merged in my opinion.

Also nowadays OpenBSD also uses LibreSSL, while in the others it is more optional, usually defaulting to OpenSSL.

However, should they be merged it may make sense to not forget about Bitrig (which is rather close to OpenBSD), having 5 relays.

I believe this is not an issue (anymore). See commit b7704a6 from over a year ago. Closing as not-a-bug. Please reopen if this was wrong.
