Can you please post a screenshot if possible? This seems to be an upstream issue that we can file a ticket for.

a video might be more suitable, it's hard to show what is happening with a screenshot. unfortunately i don't have the skills for that. what i'm experiencing is the following, clicking on the system tray icon for tor messenger, the main app window titled Instantbird is displayed or hidden depending on it's previous state. this does not affect the other instantbird windows like 'Accounts -Instantbird' or chat window. so in each hide/show cycle, the X,Y coord of the main window is not restored to its last value, instead it shifts up and very slightly to the left. i'll see about posting some screenshots for you.

I think I see what you mean, just tried it. (Don't bother about the video, a screenshot should be OK.)

Thanks for reporting.

If possible, could you download a nightly version of Instantbird and confirm that it does (or does not) happen there as well.

Tor Messenger is based on Instantbird and this is likely an upstream issue.

If so, we'll need to file a bug there as well.

This sounds like a bug between Instantbird's system tray code and your window manager. Unfortunately the system tray code is mostly unmaintained.

It might be worth seeing if this is filed in the upstream code (https://github.com/nmaier/mintrayr). We haven't taken any fixes from there in a while as the codebase was rewritten.
