Description (last modified by arma)

Mike and the Tor Browser team are still doing weird contortions to upload new Tor Browser releases to www while keeping current Tor Browser releases on www too.

The latest attempt (to upload (4.0.6 and 4.5a5 while leaving 4.0.5 and 4.5a4 in place) resulted in some time where the download page gave a 404:

We did some quick math, and concluded that 50gigs on each webserver that's part of the www / dist rotation would make everything a lot more comfortable as we grow.

Are there any servers in the www / dist rotation right now that can't handle that? If so, can we ask them to handle it?

The 50G figure means "please ensure you always have at least 50G of free space if you want to be in the www/dist rotation". It does not mean 50G total.

This is because every TBB alpha+stable release takes at least 13G combined, and we want to ensure we can have 3 sets of alpha and stable releases live on dist at any given time (with some room to spare), in case we have an emergency security update immediately prior to the normal 6 week release cycle, like we did this time.

Ok. Makes sense to me. The next question remains: how does that goal compare to the current servers in our www / dist rotation?

All dist mirrors currently have >= 50gb of free disk space on the filesystem that has the dist tree.

Note that the set of dist mirrors is not the same as the set of www mirrors.
