Description

I have a torified privoxy setup running on localhost 127.0.0.1:8118

I tried to make the torbrowser not start tor and to use privoxy for browsing, but i noticed that the dns resolutions are not passed to privoxy. the only way i managed to get the resolution to work on with privoxy is by disabling the tor button addon as mentioned on the Connection Settings window. "Disable Torbutton to change these settings." but that broke the about:addons page.

I tried many things in about:config but the dns issue still did not work, including:

extensions.torbutton.saved.transparentTor;true
extensions.torbutton.settings_method;transparent
extensions.torbutton.use_privoxy;false
extensions.torlauncher.start_tor;false
network.proxy.socks_remote_dns;false

and throwing in export TOR_SKIP_LAUNCH=1 in start-tor-browser script for good measure.

Not an ideal solution for everyone, but installing the FoxyProxy standard addon fixed the problem for my use case.

I only set the following in about:config
extensions.torlauncher.start_tor;false
extensions.torlauncher.control_port;0

The rest was done in foxyproxy.
