Make a wiki list of Tor bugs that affect hidden service reachability

We've had various bugs, like #15850 and #16381 and probably others, that impact the ability to reach hidden services. What have they been over the past year?

Researchers are trying to track hidden service performance and robustness, and they could easily draw wrong conclusions if their experiment is during "that time where we knew things were broken".

Let's write up a timeline of these issues, and put it on a wiki page, and aim to maintain it over time.

Instead, tag them all with the same keyword, and you can have trac auto-generate a table containing all of them. You can even stick such a table in a wiki page :)

Sounds great. But I (also) want a unified timeline of when the bugs were active on the network / on clients.

There you go. I worked on that a couple days ago. Here is what I have for now, let's add issues there as we find them.

dgoulet - do the following issues qualify?
#8902 - Rumors that hidden services have trouble scaling to 100 concurrent connections

  • It's not really a rumour any more, I can replicate it using chutney

#16524 - Don't vote HSDir if we aren't voting Valid

  • I'm not sure this is relevant, unless the researchers' relay gets flagged BadExit or similar

+1 on adding #8902 -- I am doing that presently.

Setting to needs_review since dgoulet has done the work and it just needs some extra eyes to see if more bugs are missing.

So that page exists. I just updated it by adding when those fixes were released and move them to "Past Issues". I guess we could continue to update it as we go if relevant?. Closing this.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
