I just installed Torbirdy and want to use it mainly with gmail and outlook addresses.

The problem is the minute I enable it, Thunderbird restart but then I have no access to an internet connection within it. I can't open the add on page nor send or receive email. It says that the proxy server is refusing connections. I tried connecting with and without my VPN but it doesn't change nothing.

I tried using different connection security protocol for outgoing servers but really the problem seems to be that no internet connection is available within Thunderbird while Torbirdy is active.

Thanks for your help!

Hi. The problem you described ("proxy server refusing connections") seems to indicate that you don't have Tor running. TorBirdy requires Tor; this can be achieved by running the Tor Browser Bundle in the background and then starting Thunderbird with TorBirdy.

We have started work on a Tor Mail bundle that will do away with the need of running Tor separately, but for now, you need to have Tor running and the easiest way to do it is with the Tor Browser Bundle, described above.
