The extensions section of the TorButton FAQ is out of date.

The extension SafeCache https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/1474 is only compatible with Firefox 2.0 - 2.0.0.*.

A comment on the SafeHistory a.m.o page says that both SafeCache and SafeHistory work on Firefox 3.6 if you change their install.rdf files so that Firefox will load them.
