Description

To reproduce: start conversations with multiple people, more than what fits in a single window. If you have a "<" ">" at the top that you can use to navigate between tabs, you are doing it right.

If a contact that not in the current visible tabs (conversations) messages you, there is no notification other a slight nudge on the the "<" ">" arrows. We should come up with a better way to notify users if they have multiple conversations about activity on a hidden tab/conversation.

We should check how Pidgin, Ricochet and other clients handle this.

There's a preference called "Notify of messages received in inactive windows" ... wonder if that helps?

So I tried this. This seems to work but I think there is a bug about its behaviour and I would appreciate if someone else can confirm this.

So while it works, it seems to work for the only the first time it is enabled. After that, I can no longer see notifications but if I disable this option and enable it again, I see it. If anyone can confirm this I will submit this upstream.

Is this a good way to handle the concern reported by arma? I guess it's not perfect but it's a good start.

Talking with the Instantbird folks:

13:22:56 <~flo-retina> you get a notification only when the window isn't focused

There is already an upstream bug for this:
