Description

Since a couple of weeks I get this message every time I try to sign into youtube. It used to work fine. Commenting never worked.

"Sorry, we could not log you in at this time. Please try again later."

I even tried with security setting "Low" and all the check boxes unchecked for the optional security settings.

Could you try older Tor Browser versions and report back if any of them worked (maybe it is nothing on Youtube's side that changed "recently" but some of our patches that broke it)? You'll find them at: https://archive.torproject.org/tor-package-archive/torbrowser/

Same issue here.

What's the status?

How are we supposed to access YouTube and maintain privacy? YouTube is an important tool for citizen journalists.

Like OP, I have not been able to login to YouTube in many months.

I get the same error with a couple of the older browser versions too. I also get addtiional errors out of most Google services saying "This version of Firefox is no longer supported. Please upgrade to asupported browser. Dismiss"

Does Tor Browser 6.0 solve this (see: https://people.torproject.org/~gk/builds/6.0 if the bundles are not out yet)?

I tested on Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0

Login works (you need to authorize using phone).

Youtube does not play immediately. Cliking 'Learn more' gives a popup:

Temporarily allow (juutubeurl-obfuscated)/(watch?v=6FbdqwlR0H4
(audio/webm; codecs="opus" (MSE) <VIDEO> / (juutubeurl))

If you go to the NoScript-button? and allow opus/webm, then the video plays.

Thanks. Might be indeed that our switch to Firefox 52 switched that but I am not sure. Resolving this as WORKSFORME then.
