Description

Torchat is an instant messenger. It is one of the rare tools which allows to communicate easily without leaving more traces than Tor Browser.
It is no more maintened, but there isn't any credible alternative. Link to Torchat: https://github.com/prof7bit/TorChat

Torchat is capricious.
This is due to the functioning of the tor version with which it runs. On windows, it runs with tor 0.2.2.x.
On other OS it has more recent versions.
On windows, the 0.2.6.x can be put.

Some windows users update the Tor version for Torchat manually, to improve stability and safety.

Support022hiddenservice was a good palliative. However it was suppressed with the commit b3bd7a736c7a54406c087bfaa2bae3dec03ec7bd. Problems returned.

I ask for the return of Support022hiddenservice, until there isn't any good alternative or that torchat is not updated.

You may be interested in https://ricochet.im/ which has code at https://github.com/ricochet-im/ricochet

It's very popular, maintained, and works across a variety of platforms. I suggest using it instead of Torchat.

There's also Tor Messenger, which was recently announced on the blog.

We really can't keep Support022HiddenService either; it isn't safe. (The fact that Tor 0.2.2 still works with the network at all is accidental, and will probably change in the future.)

Does Ricochet or TorMessenger meet your needs?
