#17765 new defect

If tor gets different addresses via different methods, it flips between them

Description

A user on tor-relays found that his tor instance was unreachable because it was switching between different IP addresses on the VPS.

It would find one IP address via gethostname, and another on the interface on the server.

It would be great if we could:

  • ask the user to use the Address torrc option in the error message
  • choose methods that we think are more likely to be correct, and believe them

I suspect that #17765 is an isolated case where the hostname resolves to the wrong address, or resolves intermittently.

If it were correct and consistent, then resolve_my_address should choose the hostname over the interface address every time.

Throw most 0.2.8 "NEW" tickets into 0.2.9. I expect that many of them will subsequently get triaged out.

Finally admitting that 0.3.??? was a euphemism for Tor: unspecified all along.

Remove an old triaging keyword.
