Description

The most common way for a relay or bridge to update its GeoIP database is to upgrade to a newer Tor version. There should be a way for the directory authorities to tell when a new GeoIP database is available, so that relays and bridges can upgrade their database. Due to Roger, something like this is specified in one of the proposals (or at least stated as a good idea), but it is not yet implemented.

On second thought, is upgrading the GeoIP database something that Thandy should do?

Seems a lot like a job for Thandy to me. OTOH, there are some systems (most of the unixes with good packaging systems) that will probably not use thandy for their updates. But these systems will probably get Tor updates anyway, so they'll wind up with okay GeoIP databases.

So I'm closing this as wontfix; please comment or reopen if you disagree.
