Description

This morning I ran Tor Browser 6.5a2 on the stable release of macOS Sierra 10.12 and it started without issue. It noticed an update was available, so I let it update to 6.5a3. Then trying to open it gave the error from Tor Launcher: "Could not connect to Tor control port."

Running it on the command line I'm seeing:

TorBrowser.app $ ./Contents/MacOS/firefox

Thanks for this report, sighmon. It looks like investigation of this problem is happening in ticket #20210, so I'll close this one as a duplicate.

A quick fix is to edit ~/Library/Application Support/TorBrowser-Data/Browser/*.default/prefs.js using your favorite text editor and add this line:

user_pref("extensions.torlauncher.control_port_use_socket", false);

Awesome, thank you. :-)
