Description

A really common user request lately has been how to set up Tor Browser as their default browser, e.g. when they click on urls in their email in thunderbird.

I'm under the impression that the current Tor Browser team answer is "don't do that, it's dangerous". Is that right? If so we should write it down explicitly, along with some intuitions for why it's dangerous so people will understand why.

And if not, we should write up some heuristics or hints or guides or something for how to do it most safely.

We have an item in Support portal explaining that people should not do that:
https://support.torproject.org/tbb/tbb-32/

But, in Tor Browser 8.5 we have an option in Preferences saying:

[ ] Always check if Tor Browser is your default browser
:( Tor Browser is not your default browser.
