Description

Once snowflake-client gets in the alpha Tor Browser builds (#20735), we're going to have some unhappy users if we don't have a sufficient number of proxies available.

We should start ramping up production asap.

Some ideas in,
https://github.com/glamrock/cupcake
https://github.com/keroserene/snowflake/issues/30

We probably also want to close out the opt-in issue,
https://github.com/keroserene/snowflake/issues/21

I worked on Snowflake integration to Cupcake a bit during the dev meeting, then sidelined it to work on something else for a while. Integration will continue next week. The update will be rolled out to (chrome) Cupcake users well before the January Tor Browser alpha release.

The Firefox extension is slightly more complicated. However, there are only around 100 users on Firefox vs ~5100-6500 on Chrome (the way Chrome web store counts active users is very inconsistent).

Thanks saint! As I said on GitHub, let me know how I can help.

I have implemented and closed the opt-in issue.

Will continue tying up loose ends. Thanks for working on the integration, saint -- let us know if there's ways we can help more directly!

Is there a url I should leave my browser on, for the browser to become a snowflake? We could probably get some dozen of those just by letting people know we want them.

(I ask because I am trying the Tor Browser 7.0a1 candidate, and asked it to use snowflake, and now it's just sitting there at 0% "connecting to the network". It doesn't look like it ever even times out. :)

Is there a url I should leave my browser on, for the browser to become a snowflake?

http://keroserene.net/snowflake/embed.html
or, http://keroserene.net/snowflake/snowflake.html (for debugging)

But you need to opt-in first at,
