Description

I'm trying to fix a few mistakes in the documentation, but the page on sandboxed-tor-browser is one of the few ones that require the WIKI_ADMIN role for editing. Can this be changed?

Otherwise, I would aks somebody with WIKI_ADMIN privileges to please fix the biggest mistake I saw: Downloaded files by default are not stored in $HOME/.share/sandboxed-tor-browser/Browser/Downloads but in $HOME/.local/share/sandboxed-tor-browser/Browser/Downloads. This is what I found out by trial and error on Debian testing, 64 bit.

Thank you.

No.

That's not right either.

Thank you for making the change I suggested, modulo cosmetic changes.

No thanks to you for being rude. I read that a code of conduct should have been completed last year, but I could not find it. Can you? Until then, please read the Tor Social Contract: https://blog.torproject.org/category/tags/social-contract

Also no thanks to you for falsely claiming that the change I suggested was incorrect. It was the minimal patch that corrected the issue. Actually, I too prefer ~ over $HOME, but in the vast majority of cases, the two are equivalent.

What I would really like to know now is this: Are you at all interested in feedback from testers?

Replying to Digitalcourage:

You suggested: $HOME/.local/share/sandboxed-tor-browser/Browser/Downloads
The code does: $HOME/.local/share/sandboxed-tor-browser/tor-browser/Browser/Downloads

Finding the non-cosmetic difference is left as an exercise for the student.

Edit: Whoops.

To be pedantic it does $XDG_DATA_HOME/sandboxed-tor-browser/tor-browser/Browser/Downloads, and applies defaults as per the XDG Base Directory Specification.

Now I can see that my “patch” was too minmal. But it pointed you in the right direction.

Any reason why the wiki page is protected? It feels silly to create a ticket just to let you know that sometimes, it should be “its” instead of “it's”.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
