Organizing and adding to media.torproject.org

I would like access to media.torproject.org so that I can:

• organize what's already hosted at media.torproject.org
• decide what we should keep, host somewhere else, and not keep at media.torproject.org
• work to update and add images to media.torproject.org

added component::webpages media owner::lnl priority::medium severity::normal status::assigned type::task labels

While we wait for arma to approve this. I kindly ask please make sure that re-organizing files wont break any links. I don't know if the right way to do is it via .htaccess file or symlinks, but the files on media.tpo have been linked from so many random places online.

update: weasel correctly mentioned on IRC that symlink isn't the right tool for this purpose.

oh and also, while on this, you might wanna look into extra.tpo. I don't know if anyone has figured what things overlap on these two machines and whether we should have two separate ones or if it's more sane to just put the organized files on extra.tpo and retire media.tpo.

I think reorganization I was thinking of will break some links, so I'll hold off on this.

This is a great call. I think that it's more sane to put the two together somehow.

I opened #21287 (moved) for the group permissions side.

As for the redirects and maintaining links, I think a useful intermediate step would be to get ahold of some of the weblogs for media.tp.o, and find out which things are popular.

My guess is that 5 to 20 of the videos are popular, and most other things not so much.
