Description

Privacy > Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows

If you enable it, TBB will connect to Amazon/Disconnect server.
They are logging and it's bad.

Instead, use .onion/ to fetch lists(host lists on Tor server).

Actually we should rather hide that item. We want privacy by design and not some incomplete filter solution. I hijack this ticket for that task.

Firefox downloads list updates from a Mozilla server (hosted on AWS) only available over HTTPS. No cookies are used/set.

What would Amazon be logging if one is using TBB and routing that traffic over the Tor network?

Replying to fmarier:

Not sure if I understand your questions in the context of this ticket. We are disabling tracking protection for Tor Browser and this ticket is only open for making the respective UI changes. It is confusing having one thing disabled (because we think that's the right thing to do) but presenting the checkbox to enable it in the UI on the other hand.

Now as to why we think we should enable it in the first place, have a look at https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser/design/#philosophy section 5.
