This seems unlikely by March at this point.

I agree it's unlikely to happen. The largest issue is the lack of an easy to use GUI to configure openwrt with tor. For the less technical people, we can ship them a pre-configured router. However, even this isn't desirable given the need to update the software and possibly reconfigure it once on site.

Sorry to jump in here, but just had a that - couldn't you run Vidalia on a desktop with the control port client pointing at the router IP?

comment:8 Changed 9 years ago by ioerror

Vidalia could work but it's certainly not very easy to setup.

Replying to Sebastian:

Isn't this really related to what Runa is doing right now, sending out the onionboxes to n people?

From #tor-dev:

< Runa> Sebastian: I did that for the excit oversion of the torouter, yes, there's also the dreamplug version :)
< Runa> Sebastian: I already have a ticket related to the beta test of the excito torouter (listed on the sponsor e phase three page)
< Sebastian> Runa: ok, so that ticket is still open and ioerror's?
< Runa> Sebastian: I have no idea what the status of the dreamplug torouter project is, you should ask ioerror

As this is no longer an active project, finding people to run these devices is no longer a priority. See also #20747.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
