polipo-tor package available, could we mention it in docs or put it in your repo?
I've created an Ubuntu repo here:
http://www.subspacefield.org/packages/ubuntu/
In there, you'll find a polipo-tor package that lists tor and polipo as prerequisites, and if you install it, it sets up config files for polipo (in parallel, not overwriting) and does all the magic so that there's a polipo instance running on port 8118, automagically.
The whole process, plus installing torbutton, should take a minute at most, and requires no decisions or thinking, really.
Making the package was a pain, required a lot of thought, and took several days.
I was wondering if you could mention my repo/package in your docs, or possibly work with me to get polipo-tor into your repo. Since users already have to install your repo to get tor, this would be better than having to install two repos. Ideally, I'd like to get all of them into the Ubuntu repos one day, but first things first.
Please email travis@subspacefield.org if you want to coordinate with me. I've found it rather difficult to get anything done with the TOR project - this has been a month or so in the works, and I've about reached my limit of effort I'm willing to invest. Thank Andrew for responding to my or-talk email and convincing me to register, confirm, and log in here to do this ticket.
