So, this does not happen with a clean 7.0.10? And Tor Browser is still functional afterwards?

This does happen with a clean install of 7.5a9 and 7.0.11, Tor browser is functional, but I must click on the white app or move it around to get the connect to to button to appear.

The bug also shows up for a second on the security settings dialog every time it is open.

Thanks. What about my two questions in comment:1? Is this a new thing coming with 7.0.11/7.5a9? Tor Browser is still working as expected?

This does effect 7.0.10 and it also effects a clean install of 52.5.2 (64-bit), sorry I read you 1st comment wrong. I made another video showing the the first intro screen stays white and may confuse users.

Thanks. Does this affect a clean Firefox 57.0.2 as well? If so, might be worth mentioning on the Mozilla ticket. That said, it seems to me 7.0.10 worked for you a couple of days/weeks ago but suddenly now you are seeing this problem even with that version? Or am I misunderstanding you?

The bug does Not effect 57.0.2 (64-bit). The issue only started after I updated my Mac to 10.13.2 (17C88) up from 10.13.1

Okay, so it affects Firefox 52.5.2esr but not Firefox 57.0.2. Could you figure out which Firefox version fixed this bug? Maybe we can backport the patch for ESR 52? All Firefox versions are at: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

The earliest version that the bug does Not occur is 57.0b3 (64-bit).

Thanks! Skimming the commit log between 57.0b2 and 57.0b3 I only see one specific macOS bugfix that might be related (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1401641). I guess we could try narrowing this down while looking at the nightlies in question figuring out in which nightly the fix first landed (it should be one of the nightlies for Firefox 58 I guess). There is the mozregression tool (https://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/) that is usually pretty helpful in figuring those things our automatically. If you feel like trying that it is highly recommended. The nightlies can be found on https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/ for the more manual approach.

Anyway, I hope Mozilla folks respond to the bug report and we can avoid going that route.

Thanks for tracking this down. I cherry-picked the patch from mozilla-central. It is commit dca73c105071dc969df0f9d03892c786868d4ee7 on tor-browser-52.5.2esr-7.5-2. We'll see if Mozilla is backporting it to ESR 52.
