Backport patches for 1448771

Mozilla does not plan to backport the patches for 1448771 but we could to be on the safe side.

bug_25721 (https://gitweb.torproject.org/user/gk/tor-browser.git/log/?h=bug_25721) in my tor-browser repo has the backport up for review. Both patches applied cleanly. I took them from

Patches look reasonable enough, but I don't have access to the original mozilla bug.

FWIW, this broke mobile (#25980 (moved)).

Backported to 7.5 with commits 20a839344bbb11759a15d38d283a9ff8862da30b and 12148cf644e5820182306788a3d3309baf8c2720 to tor-browser-52.8.0esr-7.5-1.
