Tor no longer accessible

Description

I am not a tech person so I can only provide basic info.
I was using the browser just fine until yesterday afternoon - July 28 - after that when I attempted to open it I always received the message that I could not as it was already open - which it wasn't. I ended up deleting Tor and attempted to start with a fresh download - that was a no go.

In restarting my computer today I got a message that there was some unauthorized access that was stopped by Windows Defender. In checking out Defender I found that if I granted app access for Tor I could get it to download and reinstall. However I still cannot use it - Whenever I try to start it I get the message "Tor unexpectedly exited" - and with the message to send a copy of the log - but when I click the button to copy Tor log to clipboard - nothing happens.

I'm running Windows 10

It seems Windows Defender is interfering with your Tor Browser. Could you uninstall Windows Defender for testing purposes and check whether that fixes it? Maybe there are even options to configure Windows Defender to let Tor Browser do it's job?

Only when Tor Browser tries to do unusual things ;)

Hah. Windows Defender is part of Windows 10 and also a built-in replacement for EMET ;)
There is no easy way to uninstall it, and that's good ;)

Maybe there are even options to configure Windows Defender to let Tor Browser do it's job?

Sure, as in any security software. And it's up to the user to learn how to configure Windows 10 properly.
