That's the ticket we should look at for the final strings for the onboarding in case there are changes we need.
Looking over the english ones I only found two things we should change, both on the onion services onboarding pane:
s/Browser/browser. Or we could use "Tor Browser" instead of "our Browser".
I am quite hesiatant to use "ultimate" because that's a thing I feel we hardly can reach in a security/privacy context and should not claim we'Ve reached. Could we please use something else? Maybe "enhanced"?

Also why give the NYTimes onion why not instead the DuckDuckGo onion which is already bundled in the search engines by Tor Browser (more people in the world would want to try a search engine than going to a US-centric news site)?
Edit: Or even the FB onion would be a better choice than the NY onion.
Yes, I agree with it. The NYTimes has the noscript pop-out happening and is still very US centric indeed. DDG is a great choice, since its our search eng etc.

Kathy and I went through and tried to improve readability while shortening some of the text. Here is what we came up with (we can also provide a patch if everyone likes these changes):

Welcome
Heading
You're ready.
Description
Tor Browser provides the highest level of privacy and security while browsing the web. You are now protected against tracking, surveillance and censorship. Learn more about Tor Browser and how it protects you by exploring this quick overview.

Privacy
---------------
-------
Heading
Snub trackers and snoopers.
Description
Tor Browser will isolate all traffic for each domain you visit. That means trackers and advertisers can't follow you as you move across the internet. Also, all information such as isolated cookies and browser history is deleted at the end of your session. We make these modifications to protect your online privacy and security. Next, learn how we protect you at the network level.

Tor Network

Heading
Travel a decentralized network.
Description
Tor Browser uses the Tor Network, which protects you more than a VPN because it is not centralized. The Tor Network consists of a network of servers called relays, which are run by thousands of volunteers around the world. There is no single point of failure and no centralized entity that you need to trust in order to enjoy the internet. Next, learn about the circuits that Tor Browser creates for you.

Circuit Display
---------------
---------------
Heading
See your path.
Description
For each domain you visit your traffic is encrypted and sent through a circuit that consists of three relays located around the world. This ensures that no website will know where you are connecting from, because they will only see the connection from the last relay in the circuit. If you would like to use a new circuit you can request one by clicking 'New Circuit for this Site' on Tor Browser's Circuit Display.

Heading
Choose your experience.
Description
Your privacy will always be taken care of by Tor Browser and the Tor network. In addition, we provide you with settings to allow you to increase the level of security that is in effect when accessing sites. Our Security Settings allow you to block things that could be used by bad agents to attack your computer. Click 'Review Settings' to see the different options and learn what they do.

Expect some differences.
Description
With all the security and privacy features provided by Tor Browser and the Tor Network, your experience on the internet will be a little different. Web sites will load more slowly since your connection goes through three relays around the world. Sometimes sites will ask you to prove you are a human (not a robot). Depending on your security settings, some sites may not load or work correctly. Our goal is to provide the best experience while not compromising the protections that are provided by Tor Browser.

Onion Services
Description
Finally, we would like to introduce you to Onion services. For enhanced privacy and security, sites ending in .onion are only reachable through the Tor Network. Onion services provide extra protections to publishers and visitors, including added safeguards against censorship. The same way that Tor Browser allows you to browse the web anonymously, onion services allow people to provide content and services anonymously. You will notice a small onion icon in the URL bar when accessing these sites. Click 'Visit an Onion' to visit the DuckDuckGo onion service.
I think we're set on the cut down and edited text in the pad.
Ah, okay. Who is going to merge those strings into the desktop Torbutton? Or are they already somewhere? I have not had time to pay attention to what has been going on for TBA :(
Looking at the pad a little more, I see that TBA does not include the circuit display onboarding... but we do have it for desktop. That means we need updated text for the Circuit Display panel. I think what Kathy and I proposed in comment:5 is slightly better than what is at the end of the pad (but they are similar). In any case, we are happy to use whatever someone else decides is best.

The strings are not in Torbutton yet as we should double-check whether we have everything first (and it seems you found something missing already). I think the process is:
isa/steph post the final strings (in this case the missing circuit display ones)
it has been a mistake :) the pad steph shared has the copy we did for mobile, there is why circuit display one is not there because it won't ship with this alpha.
I didn't know about this ticket, so I was planing to wait for the mobile allpha to be launched and then work on having the same copy for both platforms (change desktop).
If you would like to update desktop with what is in the pad, you can go for it! But I still need to update the circuit display copy because it is still the same as it is in the desktop. BTW that is the only step we removed from the onboarding.

I also asked if we could have a button for the display that takes the user to the next screen on onboarding, security. So the experience is a bit more consistent.

For the Circuit Display button, we used "See My Path".
For the Experience Tips title, we used "Expect some differences."
For the Onion Services title, we used "Be extra protected."
Also, we kept the same quote marks that are in the pad. Some are fancy quote marks and some are not. In the long run we should probably decide on one style and implement it.
