Description

Hi!

I'm setting up my new shiny gaba@… alias and I'm getting an issue when trying to send mails (I can receive them without problem).
I'm using gaba@… for the torproject alias and I'm using thunderbird with the same configuration that Isa is having. The error I'm getting when trying to send mails is:

The server response was: <gaba@…>: Sender address rejected: not owned by user gaba@…

Could it be something related to how the alias was configured?

Thanks!

The alias receives incoming mail at torproject.org's mailserver (to gabe@…), and then sends mail to wherever the alias says (to gaba@…).

If you want to send mail with a From: line saying gaba@…, you need to use a mailserver that will let you send those mails.

For example, I run my own mailserver, and I can write whatever I like on the From: line when I send mails. For example, I could send mail as gaba@… if I wanted.

So if you want to send mails using gaba@… as your From line, you need to find a mailserver that is willing to send them.

It sounds like you're using riseup as your mailserver? And riseup doesn't want to send these mails? I'd start by looking there.

login at https://account.riseup.net/ with your riseup account
click "Mail Setting" -> "Aliases"
create a new alias
