Once https://github.com/torproject/tor/pull/381 lands I can help take a look at this. I didn't see that doctests are explicitly disabled in Cargo.toml, so is the status quo to just not write doctests or otherwise flag them as ignored?

(mostly curious about what's necessary to trigger an error to investigate)
