TOR interferes with bookmarks (FF, v3.6.16)

installed TOR and all bookmarks disappeared and they would not restore. Finally had to disable TOR and after a restart, all appeared.

Perhaps you mean Torbutton, rather than Tor?

This sort of thing is actually a feature of Torbutton, rather than a bug: https://www.torproject.org/torbutton/en/design/index.html.en (If you can access things on your side, often the remote website can too.)

But I don't know for sure whether Torbutton is intended to stash your bookmarks somewhere safe for (and from) you. Mike?

This should only be affecting live bookmarks. Ie RSS feeds you've put in your bookmakrs folder/toolbars...
