I'm still using an older Ubuntu Desktop version, i.e 14.04, and for several months now I haven't been able to launch Tor Browser.

Today I ran "./Browser/start-tor-browser --debug" and got the following:

./firefox.real: relocation error: ./firefox.real: symbol _ZTTNSt7__cxx1119basic_ostringstreamIcSt11char_traitsIcESaIcEEE, version GLIBCXX_3.4.21 not defined in file libstdc++.so.6 with link time reference__

This is version linux64-8.5_en-US

Duplicate of #27508. We actually never found the root cause for that bug. Please have a look at #27508 where there is a workaround for your issue. That said: this is still a WONTFIX as 14.04 is past the end of life and likely already contains serious security vulnerabilities. We could think about taking a patch that addresses the root cause, but we won't work on that anymore ourselves.
