Tor Browser 9 on Lineage OS 14.1 stalls during start-up

A user on the blog reported that Tor Browser is just stalling during start-up on their Lineage OS.

It seems the same issue is happening with Orbot (see: https://github.com/guardianproject/orbot/issues/276)

There's a new orbot release candidate upgrading the tor version to 0.4.1.6 with the hope this fixes it. We can try picking this up, too.

Are we looking at adding this to tor-android-service as a binary or using the newest build for Android tor in the browser build?

Are we looking at adding this to tor-android-service as a binary or using the newest build for Android tor in the browser build? I meant updating TOPL's dependency on tor-android-binary.

I'm not sure how I should interpret the below orbot bug report, because I'm not sure if the new update (16.1.3) resolved the problem or if downgrading and then upgrading somehow resolved it. We should still bump the tor version, in any case.

We should try shipping 9.5a4 with the newer tor version and see if that solves the problem. I don't want to ship a new tor version in a stable version without testing it in an alpha.
