Description

I'm using the TOR Browser bundle with Polipo, Vidalia and TorButton in Firefox.
My operating system is Windows 7 Professional (32 bit)

Whenever I try to open a hidden service, I get the following error:

504 Connect to www.onion:80 failed: General SOCKS server failure

The following error occurred while trying to access http://www.onion/:

504 Connect to www.onion:80 failed: General SOCKS server failure

This is the Vidalia message log of the failed connection:

www.onion is not a valid hidden service name. Try our example hidden service: http://duskgytldkxiuqc6.onion/

Replying to rransom:

www.onion is not a valid hidden service name. Try our example hidden service: http://duskgytldkxiuqc6.onion/

I can connect to the example hidden service without any problems.

But if I try to connect to, for example the hidden wiki:
https://kpvz7ki2v5agwt35.tor2web.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
I get said error message.
I'm 100% certain the url is correct, as friends of mine can connect.
What could be the problem here?

Never mind.
I just figured it out.
The ".tor2web.org" had to be replaced with ".onion" in order to connect.
Thank you very much and sorry for stealing your time.
Peace
