Description

From the MaxMind GeoLite license:

2. All advertising materials and documentation mentioning features or use of
this database must display the following acknowledgement:
"This product includes GeoLite data created by MaxMind, available from
http://maxmind.com/"

From the OpenSSL license:

 * 3. All advertising materials mentioning features or use of this
 *    software must display the following acknowledgment:
 *    "This product includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project
 *    for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit. (http://www.openssl.org/)"

and

 * 3. All advertising materials mentioning features or use of this software
 *    must display the following acknowledgement:
 *    "This product includes cryptographic software written by
 *     Eric Young (eay@cryptsoft.com)"
 *    The word 'cryptographic' can be left out if the rouines from the library
 *    being used are not cryptographic related :-).

To be safe, these should be on every page of the web site.

If we wanted, we could add a software-license link in the footer, e.g. to https://gitweb.torproject.org/tor.git?a=blob_plain;hb=HEAD;f=LICENSE

I would not say that we need to include the blocks of text on every page.

We used to have a faq answer with the license in it. this is probably a better place for it than in the website footer. or, we just put it in the LICENSE file we ship with tor.

These blocks are already in the LICENSE file we ship with every Tor package. Traditionally, we have felt that was fine 'notice'.
