#3446 closed enhancement (fixed)

Support Firefox 5.0.

Description

Torbutton 1.4.0 should claim to be Firefox 5.0, as it looks like that is what we'll be using in TBB 2.2.x.

We should also perform some basic tests of FF5.0 compatibility. The set of changes on https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Firefox_5_for_developers looks small enough that it might just work.

Replying to cypherpunks:

I agree, see https://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2011/06/21/mozilla-delivers-new-version-of-firefox-first-web-browser-to-support-do-not-track-on-multiple-platforms/

*sigh*...

Well maybe it's good news after all. If they finally acknowledge the need for users to have privacy against the ad networks, maybe they will seriously consider real privacy by design for private browsing modes in the future.

Unless doing anything more than begging the adversary not to exploit the user is "outside the threat model" of PBM, too ;)

After reading through the Firefox 5 for developers page a couple times, I do not see anything that looks to be a huge concern for Tor Browser.

CSS animations may be a concern for the toggle model, but the content policy should block them.
