Description

it looks like some lists are not really getting moderated.

Maybe we should try to auto-moderate things like tor-dev.

By automoderate I mean:

  • send all mail that isn't from subscribers to a script.
  • that script pipes the mail into spamassassin.
  • if it scores badly, discard it right there
  • if it scores as ham, approve the mail
  • only if it's borderline bound it to a human moderator.
  • the human moderator would have to approve/discard the mail by bouncing it to one of two addresses. No more using the web interface.

If we want that I can set it up.

I've configured all of the lists that require a subscription to post a message to reject non-member emails. They were previously configured to hold them for moderator approval.

The lists changed are:
tor-dev
tor-talk
tor-news
tor-announce
tor-mirrors
consensus-tracker
tor-relays

The other lists are either open submission or generally posted to by automated processes. Bouncing automated emails is only going to result in mail loops.

tor-announce

tor-announce was different, in that it doesn't simply require a subscription to post. My posting approach so far has been "send the mail, wait for phobos to approve it". Has that changed?

Yes, you are the sole moderator, so your posts go through, everyone else bounces.

I've configured rejects for non-members on tor-consensustracker and tor-commits too. This should remove most of the list admin load and help me to pay attention to the mailman complaints again.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
