dererk has been maintaining Vidalia in the Debian proper repositories for a while now, and he's also recently been working on torctl and arm with atagar. My own packaging dancing card is too full as it is, so I asked him if he'd be willing to take care of the Vidalia packages in our repos (for all suites / architectures) and he said he would.

Can we give him access to the deb.tpo repo? I'm not sure if he has access to build machines that are sufficient for building all of these packages, but we should probably give him access to dixie's build infrastructure (all the chroots, sbuild-stuff, etc.) as well.

I'm gonna hope that he'll also be uploading new arm/torctl debs. If so then this will also resolve

I think the agreement we reached was that dererk will build packages first. Once we have those we can look into allowing him to put them on deb.tpo himself.

somehow this got lost on irc twice:

| <dererk> weasel, helix: in relation to #4053, just to make some clear thoughts, I'm supposed to build pkgs for the suites on my own and send the src/binaries to $somebody for submission?

Yes. We have a large number of suites in the repository on for tor. If we want to ship vidalia in these, we need builds for all of them. If we prefer we can also make new vidalia suites in the repo, and you get to say which ones, and then you'll have to make packages for just them.

We have a box with a lot of chroots that you can use to build the binary packages if you want.

As we quickly discussed on IRC, I'll be providing a path where to fetch the binary+src packages for Vidalia and arm for the releases of hardy, lucid, maverick, natty, lenny, squeeze, wheezy and sid, and hope I could be adding oneiric also.

I hope that once we got the process tuned, I could upload them myself so I don't have to bother nor depend in anyone else.

I'll be reopening this ticket in that moment.
