Description

A planetarian aggregator is another name for a website that downloads news feeds (e.g. blog posts) published by web sites and aggregates their content together into a single combined feed, latest news first. Think planet.debian and planet.ubuntu, and you get the idea.

The planetarian aggregator should pull news feeds related to censorship, surveillance, tor, security, etc. Including the Tor Project blog. This planetarian aggregator can either have it's own non-torproject domain, or we can create planet.tpo.

Suggested software for this planetarian aggregator is planetplanet and planet venus.

I'm never going to get this done in time. Unassigning from me. Basically, it involves finding some software that can pull in rss feeds from all over the place, someone to curate the feeds so that every Norwegian with the name of Tor doesn't show up in it, and have it auto-publish hourly.

tl;dr phobos will set it up, Runa will maintain it and find feeds and whatnot.

planet venus is installed on motor.torproject.org. Someone needs to configure it with rss feeds.

comment:4 Changed 8 years ago by phobos

correction, planet lives on vescum. motor is tainted with php.

I setup the tor blog feed and used the default template, https://planet.torproject.org/ exists with content now.

We should email tor-$something asking for feed suggestions. I did say that I'd maintain it, so taking ownership of this ticket now.

Andrew: why is the site named Planet Circumvention? I thought the sponsor wanted general censorship, circumvention, security, privacy news. Please re-assign the ticket back to me when you've read/replied this.

See #4502. Regardless of what we want, right now it's planet tor which is not what we should be doing.

Sure, #4502 talks about compiling information about censorship and security threats, not just circumvention. I'll just pull together some feeds that match what we're trying to do. We can always edit the list later.
