If you install the universal binary version of the Tor package on Mac OS X, you end up running a PowerPC version of privoxy.
This has been the case for a while now, since I first started testing UB versions on the mac.
It can be confirmed by running Activity Monitor and looking in the Kind column.
Also the 'file' command reports:

$ file /Library/Privoxy/privoxy
/Library/Privoxy/privoxy: Mach-O executable ppc

compare to the tor executable:

$ file /Library/Tor/tor
/Library/Tor/tor: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
/Library/Tor/tor (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386
/Library/Tor/tor (for architecture ppc): Mach-O executable ppc

I have just installed and confirmed that it is still the case.

Right. In my testing, the universal version of privoxy has stability issues. I don't know why, and privoxy is
unmaintained at this point. We're working on replacing privoxy with polipo, which works fine as a universal binary.

Universal binary privoxy is too unstable to ship at this point. I can get it to crash under heavy load,
unlike ppc-only privoxy.

I've heard from a few people that a universal binary is stable for them. I may include a universal binary in the next
-alpha release.

The scripts for "make dist-osx" namely, assume the binary privoxy package. I'll have to script compiling
privoxy for a universal binary.

pnx gave me some notes on building a stable universal binary for privoxy. I'm currently testing out stability.

flyspray2trac: bug closed.
future packages will use polipo instead of privoxy.
