Description

Andrew and I agreed on making "Extend the metrics descriptor library to parse all metrics data formats and prepare it for use in the metrics data processor and metrics website" a contract deliverable for June 2012. Adding as sponsor Z deliverable, because it's not directly funded. Aiming for March 31, 2012.

This task isn't done yet, but I made some good progress.

metrics-lib is now in use by Onionoo, DocTor, and metrics-web. It supports parsing 4 of the 5 descriptor types on https://metrics.torproject.org/data.html. The missing 5th type is performance data, which I'd rather want to convert into a new format (#3036) before implementing the parser. Another descriptor type used by metrics-web is GetTor data which first needs to go on the data page before being implemented in metrics-lib.

Moving this ticket to June 2012 when it's really due.

The steps mentioned in the previous comment are now done: metrics-lib now parses Torperf data in the new .tpf format and GetTor data which are also on the data page now. metrics-web relies on metrics-lib for parsing all descriptor types. That concludes this ticket. Closing as implemented.
