Description

Currently there is a lot of confusion and dispersion as to where one should find Tor related graphics in un-rasterized or high quality format.

People in the past have also raised concern about this in the past: http://archives.seul.org/or/talk/Jun-2010/msg00095.html.

Can we create a git repo for all graphics related material and stick to putting, every time some graphics gets created (stickers, tshirts, posters, etc.) place inside of this repo the original un-rasterized file (.svg, .pdf or .ai)?

git://git.torproject.org/graphics.git

This would facilitate a lot the work of somebody that needs to make a graphic work that contains the Tor logo and avoids him to screw the graphics up.

The first things that it should contain are:
1) The official Tor logo: https://media.torproject.org/image/2011-tor-logo-flat.svg and https://media.torproject.org/image/2011-tor-logo-shaded.svg (I think the trademark sign should be removed from those since it does not appear anywhere that the Tor logo appears)
2) The logo's for Tor Browser bundle: I cannot find the original vectorial version of this: https://www.torproject.org/images/easy-tbb.png.
3) The graphics for stickers and t-shirts in vector form.

If we're posting graphics, we should link to our TM policy. https://www.torproject.org/docs/trademark-faq.html.en
The (R) sign should stay there especially if the idea is that these graphics will find their way outside the Tor Project.

I think we have an svn repo for this at some place. Also, there are trademark and other issues. I feel uneasy going ahead with this, especially because I don't feel this will really work well without someone diligently adding graphics; and because git's handling of binary files isn't so awesome. Having a bunch of huge repositories (official + personal stuff) isn't so awesome. Happy to be convinced otherwise, tho

https://media.torproject.org is it. There is a difference between tor trademarked artwork and community created artwork. We haven't made available some of our source files for the artwork to avoid the total anarchy of 'official tor or not' questions. If we want total anarchy, I can post all of the svg files of the images.
